Why the visit schedule matters

Quarterly service is an economical way to maintain coverage and address activity before many problems become established. You may still see insects between visits, particularly as an outdoor treatment ages or weather and irrigation affect the treated area. Every-other-month service refreshes that work more often and is a better fit when you want fewer gaps between visits. We will discuss the pests you are seeing and what each schedule can realistically do for your home; no schedule guarantees you will never see an insect.

Premium Mosquito, with or without a home pest plan

Signature and Signature Plus include five monthly seasonal Premium Mosquito treatments. Premium Mosquito is also available by itself if you want mosquito service without a general pest or rodent plan.

Mosquitoes can develop quickly, and new adults can fly in from surrounding areas. Sun, rain and irrigation also affect outdoor treatments. Monthly seasonal visits help us maintain a more consistent barrier during mosquito activity. Depending on conditions, we may start in March or April to get ahead of activity. Treatment can reduce mosquitoes around the areas we service, but it cannot prevent every bite or control mosquitoes throughout the surrounding neighborhood.

About these starting prices

These pre-tax starting examples use a home 10 driving miles from our Elk office. Insect and spider plans assume 240 linear feet of included exterior perimeter. Rodent plans also assume four complete exterior iQ-equipped stations and three separate interior RTU stations. Premium Mosquito assumes up to 3,000 square feet of mosquito treatment area, independently of the exterior insect perimeter measurement. The rodent equipment count is an example for this home; perimeter length alone does not determine how many stations a property needs.

These prices describe that specific entry example. They are not a minimum charge, an average customer bill or a price promised for every home. Your first payment is setup only. Monthly program payments begin approximately 30 days later. The six plans with published prices have a 12-month initial agreement; existing agreements may differ. Your written quote will show your actual setup payment, monthly payment, coverage, equipment and visit schedule before you approve service.

Our new residential rodent plans use complete exterior EVO Express stations with Bell Sensing iQ® trays. Interior RTUs are separate devices. We retrieve activity locally during visits; this is not live remote monitoring or an elimination guarantee. Bell Sensing iQ® is a registered trademark of Bell Laboratories, Inc.

If you choose monthly or every-other-month service, you can also request an added-fee quote for RESCUE!® yellowjacket trap setup and maintenance. Tell us which plan and options interest you when you request a quote.

How we build your quote

What linear footage means

For exterior insect and spider service, linear footage is the distance around the outside walls of the structures you ask us to include. It is not your lot size or the total floor area inside your home. A two-story home and a one-story home can have similar indoor square footage but very different exterior perimeters.

Why price exterior pest service by the square footage inside your home? For this work, we treat the outside, not your floor plan. Indoor square footage does not tell us how long the exterior walls are or how much exterior area needs attention. You tell us which structures you want included; we measure them and explain the work in your quote. Product labels and site conditions govern where and how any treatment is applied.

Diagram showing a red measurement line around an example home and attached garage, totaling 350 linear feet

Attached garages, recessed walls and additional included structures can change that measurement. The perimeter is one part of the quote; it is not a formula for the number of rodent stations. If your plan includes rodent protection, we determine the equipment count and placement from the property and inspection findings.

Pest activity, access, driving distance and visit frequency can also affect your quote. You do not need to measure the home yourself. We will explain the measurement, the work included and any preparation or product-label precautions that matter for children, pets, gardens, aquariums or other sensitive areas before you approve service.

Compare prices for the same home

Here is what each priced plan would cost for one example home with 350 linear feet of included exterior perimeter, located 21 driving miles from our Elk office. For this illustration, the rodent plans include six complete exterior iQ-equipped stations and four separate interior RTU stations. That is an example equipment layout, not a station count required by a 350-foot perimeter.

For Premium Mosquito, assume this same home has 9,000 square feet of mosquito treatment area. That treated area is a separate measurement from its 350-foot exterior perimeter.

PlanFirst payment: setupMonthly payment starting about 30 days later
Ridgeline$441.00$127.75
Guardian$441.00$96.33
Sentinel$428.50$83.50
Timberline$209.00$82.50
Shield$209.00$63.00
Premium Mosquito$250.50$100.21

What accounts for the difference?

For this home, Ridgeline and Guardian have the same $441 setup. Ridgeline’s every-other-month maintenance makes its monthly payment $31.42 higher than Guardian’s quarterly schedule. Timberline and Shield likewise have the same $209 setup; Timberline’s more frequent visits add $19.50 per month. The rodent-plan prices also reflect the exterior iQ stations and interior RTUs in this example. Equipment needs are assessed for the individual property.

These pre-tax figures illustrate one home; they are not average customer bills. The first payment shown is setup only. Monthly billing starts approximately 30 days later, even though service visits follow the selected plan’s schedule. Your written quote will reflect your home’s measurements, location, coverage and equipment. Signature and Signature Plus receive individual quotes because they include seasonal Premium Mosquito service. Premium Mosquito is five seasonal visits each year, billed in twelve monthly installments after the separate setup payment.

Our Home Pest Control Process

  • Inspection
Backwoods Pest Control offers in-person inspections to all of our customers. We believe every customer deserves pest control tailored to their home's unique needs. Once we complete our assessment, we'll design a pest control plan that meets your needs.
  • Treatment

We tailor exterior treatment to the pest, weather, label, and property. Shield and Guardian can also include targeted main-residence interior crack-and-crevice treatment for covered insects when the findings call for it, without an additional treatment charge. Older plans and other interior work follow their own written terms.

  • Follow Up

We offer one-time and ongoing options according to the pest and property. Current Shield and Guardian plans include an initial follow-up and then scheduled maintenance; rodent visits may be more frequent while activity is being brought under control. The written agreement defines covered pests, service areas, follow-up, and any additional charges.

We have struggled with earwigs in our home and snakes in our yard, even coming into our garage. We tried a door-to-door pest control company for over a year, but they weren’t able to resolve the issue, even with retreatments. My husband called Backwoods Pest Control and Brian came out to do a consult for us and gave us some snake scram granules the same day, knowing we were having a major issue. He was very knowledgeable and outlined a comprehensive plan to help us. We haven’t seen a snake since (we had been seeing multiple snakes each day up to that point). We signed up for the service and less than a week later, Krista came out. She was so friendly and kind and listened to our concerns, making adjustments based on the information we gave her about where we’ve been seeing bugs, etc. She let us know what to expect and was also able to tell us why our past treatments for earwigs hadn’t worked. We already saw dead bugs in treated areas before she even finished treating the rest of the house. We highly recommend Backwoods Pest Control!
